In its 35 years, the Universidad Central del Caribe (UCC)—a non-for-profit institution—has demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of life of the Puerto Rican community through excellence in clinical services, emphasis in an extensive agenda of biomedical, clinical, and psychosocial research as well as the development of competent health care professionals.
The best legacy for the future generations is education. With this in mind, the Institutional Development and Alumni Office of the UCC, along with the active support of the Alumni Association of its School of Medicine, has embarked on various initiatives whose objectives are to nurture and sustain the institution’s endowment and scholarship funds.
Occupy Health Street is a fundraising raffle with two main purposes:
1. Awareness of the involvement of the institution and its student organizations in the community, as a key component of the UCC’s mission.
As a health sciences institution one of the UCC’s main concerns is the betterment of the community it serves. Accordingly, students and faculty have designed and coordinated extensive volunteer services within the community. Medical students conduct orientation classes on special preventive topics in public schools, carry out health clinics for the homeless, and participate in other health activities in the community.
2. Grant Scholarships to needy students.
To counteract the existing situation concerning insufficient financial aid for medical students in Puerto Rico, the funds raised for the Scholarship Fund are granted in their entirety at the commencement of each academic year to merit and needy students.
We invite you to explore and learn more about our programs and initiatives that you can support with your donation. Our fundraising raffle is one of these initiatives. With a donation of $100 you can participate in the reception and the raffle which will take place on June 8, 2012, beginning at 6:00 PM at the exclusive facilities of Garaje Isla Verde-Mercedes Benz.
Go ahead and take a look at all the prizes you can win. Good luck!
